Photography has been a constant companion throughout my life — a way of seeing, remembering, and telling stories. I bought my first SLR camera, a second-hand Pentax, when I was a student. In those days, every photograph had to count. Film was expensive to develop, so I learned to be selective — to slow down, to wait for the right light, the right expression, the right moment. A few years later, while visiting Singapore, I discovered lenses and filters, and my curiosity grew. Photography became not just a record of places, but a creative process — a way of shaping what I saw. My first digital camera arrived in 1999, marking a new chapter. Since then, technology has moved faster than any of us could have imagined. We now take countless photos with our phones, capturing moments without hesitation or cost. And yet, I still carry the discipline and care of those early days. Even in this age of unlimited images, I find myself pausing before I press the shutter — asking what story I want to tell, and why. Photography, for me, remains about connection: between memory and place, between light and emotion, between the world and how we choose to see it.
