While based in Hong Kong, I was fortunate to visit many parts of China — sometimes for work, sometimes simply to explore. Each journey revealed a new layer of the country’s incredible diversity. From the grandeur of Beijing and the energy of Shanghai to the natural beauty of Guilin and the charm of smaller places like Hangzhou, Xidi, Shenzhen, and Wuhan, I was constantly inspired by the contrasts between old and new, tradition and innovation. China’s vastness — its landscapes, its history, and its people — offered endless photographic possibilities. Through my lens, I tried to capture both the scale and the subtleties of a country that continues to evolve while holding fast to its deep cultural roots.
My visit to Taiwan was brief but memorable. I travelled to Taipei for a conference, yet it was the journey beyond the city that left the strongest impression. Visiting the Taroko Gorge in Hualien, I was struck by the island’s dramatic natural beauty — sheer cliffs, winding rivers, and an extraordinary sense of calm. Though my time there was short, Taiwan left me with lasting images of light, landscape, and balance — a place where nature and modern life coexist with quiet elegance.
